Drool on. Alfa Romeo will formally unveil the production version of the 8C Spider – a limited run of 500 soft-tops – at this spring’s Geneva Motor Show. It’s powered by the same 4.7-litre V8 producing 444bhp as the 8C coupe that so entranced CAR on our recent road trip from Monaco to Modena.Prospective buyers will face a long wait for the Spider, however.
Michelin has announced the brief for the annual Michelin Challenge Design competition, themed ‘HALF! Lightweight with a Passion'. Pre-registration for the 2013 automotive design competition begins October 1, 2011.
Starting on Dec. 1, Andrea Maria Benedetto will serve as Italian car-design firm Pininfarina S.p.A.'s product-development director. Benedetto, who last served as the vice president of body and chassis function in the research and development division of Toyota Motor Europe, will organize engineering and R&D activities.
